Rev. Dr. Sergio E. Arevalo, Jr.
Kumusta po? Some of my friends are asking about my whereabouts and my activities. And some of my new friends are asking, "Who am I?" Well, let me answer like this:
I finished Doctor of Philosophy, Master of Theology (Missiology), Master of Arts (Educational Management), Master of Divinity (Magna Cum Laude) and Bachelor of Arts (English) in seminaries and universities in the USA, South Korea and the Philippines. I also attended a lot of seminars in the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore and the USA.
I taught Theology, Bible, Missiology, Anthropology, Biblical Languages, English and Philippine studies in the different seminaries and universities in the Philippines and Korea such as Philippine Christian University, Wesleyan University, World Mission Seminary, Wesley Divinity School, and Operation Mobilization Korea.
I also held sensitive positions in the universities such as chairman of academic studies and student affairs, and as university chaplain.
In the church I held chairmanship or membership in the different committees and boards: Curriculum and Publication Committee of the Board of Christian Education and Communications, Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry, Board of the Ordained Ministry, Administrative Review Committee, Secretariat of the Philippine Central Conference, MidPAC Committee to Edit the Journal, Executive Committee of the Philippine Central Conference’s Board of Christian Education and Communications.
I authored several books and articles in Theology and Missiology. I also translated several books from English to Tagalog.
I am an ordained minister (Elder) of the United Methodist Church with long years of church experiences in South Korea, the Philippines and USA as pastor, church planter, teacher or guest preacher.
I was married to former Deaconess-Teacher, Merla Villanueva and we have two wonderful children, namely: Paolo and Shaira. Merla passed away in 2004.
Moreover, I am now organizing a missionary church called The Open Church of Jesus Christ in California. I pray that I can do my duties with victories.
